In order to be eligible for REF
funding, projects will need to be compliant with relevant Technical Standards
to be established by the REF. This is important to ensure the safety,
reliability and quality of the systems supported by the REF.
The
Technical Standards will specify minimum safety, quality and reliability
requirements for the eligible technology types, plus distribution lines and
mini-grid systems.
The REF standards have not yet been developed, but the following documents may
be of interest as an example of relevant Cambodian standards and some used
elsewhere. Each of these can be

Cambodian Technical
Standards (Feb 2003)
These standards were drafted by a team of Japanese professionals funded by
JICA. They consist of 5 sections on various technologies, plus a Handbook for
Engineers to assist with their use and interpretation. Both Khmer and English
language versions are available.

These are simple
and practicle
guidelines for the design and specification of rural distribution systems for
developing countries.

These standards were developed for the Rural Electrification and Renewable
Energy Development Project, funded by the World Bank and Global Environment
Facility.
