The Royal Government of Cambodia is committed to poverty reduction throughout the Kingdom, and a key requirement for this is the development of sustainable and affordable energy supplies for everyone.  The Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy (MIME) is responsible for developing, implementing and managing Government policy and strategy with regard to energy.  More information on MIME can be find at the official MIME website: http://www.cambodia.gov.kh/ The General Directorate of Energy, within MIME, is divided into three departments:

1.   The Department of Energy Development

2.   The Department of Energy Technique

3.   The Hydropower Department

DET Organization Chart

The Department of Energy Technique (DET) is the focal point of the Government’s efforts to develop Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency and Technical Standards.

  The following presentation by Dr. Sat Samy, the Under Secretary of State at the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy, describes Cambodia’s efforts to date, and current status of the promotion of Renewable Energy.  Dr. Sat Samy is also the patron of Cambodia’s Renewable Electricity Action Plan (REAP) which can be downloaded for free in the Reports and Papers section of this website.
